Weddings & Portraits

Krista and Nick braved the winter temps for their engagement photos. It probably dropped ten degrees while we were shooting their session, but they were troopers! We started at Nelson Park and then headed over to Mountain Town Station where they first met to grab a few photos there. At the very end we even got some beautiful snow fall! Then…we all pretty much ran for our warm cars!!!

Krista and Nick,

We couldn’t be more excited to photograph you two becoming husband and wife this October!

-Moriah & Ken

We wanted to take a minute and reflect on what a great year 2014 was. This was our first year as a husband and wife team as well as re-branding our business into one. We had an absolute blast and want to say thank you to all of the wonderful clients we had this year. Thank you for being awesome and for trusting us to capture some of your most cherished memories. It was such an honor to be a part of it all! As we gear up for 2015 we are really looking forward to what it will bring and where it will take us. We have new ideas and new goals to continue to make our business grow.

Here’s a peek at some behind the scenes photos we snapped this year!

We are so excited to photograph Danielle and Patrick’s wedding next year for two reasons. 1) They are awesome! 2) They are getting married at the same place we did last year– Forty-Five North Vineyard & Winery! We made our way north last month to meet up for their snowy engagement session. We started at the winery and then to Traverse City so they could get a few photos with their sweet dog Mackinaw!

We ended our 2014 season with Sara and Ken’s beautiful October wedding! I’m pretty sure the fall color exploded the night before their big day, it was just gorgeous. We started the day with them getting ready at St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Beal City where Sara and Ken said I do. Followed by, a crazy party bus ride with a few stops for photos including O’Kelly’s where they first met! Then onward to Bucks Run in Mt. Pleasant to celebrate with their family and friends. Here is a look at their day…

In memory of her dad, Sara had a patch sewn into her dress from one of his shirts as well as a charm with his picture on her bouquet.

Sara and Ken put up with the cold temperatures and my awesome jokes for some fun shots after dark! Worth my song lyric jokes Ken? I think so! 😉

We watched the weather forecast for Julie and Ed’s wedding closely leading up to their big day. The forecast was pretty solid–rain. Julie was worried and we were worried too. Of course we always have a back up plan for situations like these, but it’s those gorgeous outdoor locations we all have our hearts set on. Especially for a Mackinac Island wedding! As we drove north, Ken kept checking the hourly forecast. There was a glimmer of hope as our scheduled coverage for photos showed the chance of rain dropping from 80% to a 10% chance. We had our fingers crossed!!!

As we arrived to meet with Julie and Ed at the Sunset Condos they were putting on their finishing touches before their first look. It was so sweet the way Ed’s face lit up when he saw his bride for the first time. From there, we jumped on the carriage and rode to Little Stone Church where they would become husband and wife. After making it official we walked a few blocks to Goodfellow’s Wine Cellar for their reception. With the rain still holding off we took a little walk for some more portrait time. So glad we did! Mackinac Island has so much charm and it complimented Julie and Ed’s radiating love perfectly. As we said goodbye and walked across the street to leave it started to sprinkle and then proceeded to downpour! We couldn’t believe it!
