You may remember Robert and Michele from their beautiful winter wedding we photographed a few months back. After going over their wedding options we decided to do a newborn session in place of an engagement session after the wedding since they were expecting baby Tyler. You may also remember a bit of blue and maize throughout their wedding, well it was a no-brainer to incorporate some of that in Tyler’s session–he is after-all one of U of M’s newest fans! They have been such a joy to photograph this year, and are one of the nicest families we have ever met!.jpg)

Weddings & Portraits
There are so many wonderful things I want to say about Sara and Ken, even after only knowing them for a short while. Their engagement session was filled with so much sentiment it will make your heart swell! We started out at their home which sits along the Chippewa River. Just along the riverbank is a very special tree where Ken had spent much time carving their initials and had planned a very special proposal. It is there, where Ken asked Sara to be his wife. After talking with them about their photos, they had a couple of requests. Ken wanted to be sure and include their puppy Max, who he has waited for ever since his childhood dog had passed. Max is the same exact breed as the one he grew up with and is as sweet as can be! Sara also wanted to make sure and get some photos taken in their canoe. This canoe was owned by Sara’s late father and was passed onto her by her mother, so it holds a very special place in their hearts. We ended the session at CMU where they both had went to school with a giant wall full of ivy–including lots of mosquitos! Allison contacted us about photographing the newest addition to their family, Miss Adeline. She was worried they were going to miss capturing the newborn stage as Adeline was already three weeks old and quickly growing and changing! Newborns are typically best photographed at 10 days or less as they are usually sleepier and easier to pose during that time frame. Not to worry though, we were up for the challenge! 🙂 With a little bit of planning and preparation we a great session and we even got a little smile out of her at the end! Big sister Cora was also pretty smitten by her baby sister.

Hannah’s grandma wanted to set up a photo session to get some updated pictures of her the same day I was photographing her cousin Alastair. Knowing full well that photographing a 1 year old and a 2.5 year old back-to-back in one morning would be exhausting, I bought the biggest coffee I could find that morning!!! 🙂 We sang songs, played games, blew bubbles, and of course busted out some chocolate covered pretzel bribes. Though she wasn’t too crazy about me and my camera that day, we still came away with some beautiful photos of a beautiful little girl!
I (Moriah) have been photographing Alastair since he was a newborn. After his 6 month photo session I was so bummed to find out that him and his family were moving to Kentucky, meaning I wouldn’t be seeing him turn one. To my pleasant surprise I received an email from his mom asking if I would be available to take his one year photos. Of course! During the session she told me they were originally planning on having their family come down to Kentucky for his one year birthday party, but after thinking about getting his photos done they decided to bring the party to Michigan so they could book with me. What an honor! There is nothing cooler than watching a child grow up in front of your camera. I had so much fun chasing this little guy around and of course watching him dig into some cake for the first time! This session also yielded on of my very favorite father/child photos which you will see below.
